Internal regulations for the selection of the best paper award
Article 1. Purpose
The best paper award (grand prize and encouragement prize) of the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine aims to contribute to the development of intensive care medicine.
Article 2. Requirements
- 1) The first author should be a member of the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
- 2) An original paper that has been published in the journal of the society during the period between October two years before and November one year before the general meeting of the society, or presented at one of the academic conferences of the society and published in a prestigious academic journal.
Article 3. Selection committee
The selection committee shall consist of the following members who will be delegated by the board chairman with board meeting approval. The president of the academic meeting shall serve as the chairman of the selection committee.
- 1. President, former president, president two terms previously
- 2. One member of the journalfs editorial board
- 3. Four councilors
The term of members of the committee shall be three years (in the case of 2) and one year (in the case of 3).
Article 4. Public subscription
- 1) The chairman of the selection committee shall make an announcement to accept papers (with or without recommendation) from the public once a year.
- 2) Procedures for the submission of papers shall be based on the rules for selection of the best paper award defined separately.
- 3) The journalfs editorial board may recommend papers for the award.
Article 5. Selection method
- 1) The selection committee shall select candidate papers for the award according to the rules for selection of the best paper award defined separately.
- 2) The best paper award will be determined with board meeting approval.
- 3) Up to three papers shall receive awards each year.
Article 6. Award
Award certificates and prize money shall be bestowed by the president at the annual meeting of the society. The amount of prize money will be 200,000 yen for the grand prize and 100,000 yen for the encouragement prize.
Article 7. Prizewinners shall give a presentation of the paper at the academic conference of the year.
Article 8. Foundation
The money donated by Mr. Amaha, the 13th president, shall comprise our foundation, which will be operated and managed by the board chairman.
Additional Clause
These internal regulations will become effective on March 1, 1986.
This revision will take effect on May 18, 2001.
This revision will take effect on January 11, 2002.
This revision will take effect on May 1, 2003.
This revision will take effect on March 5, 2004.
(The provisions regarding the board chairman will take effect on February 23, 2005.)
