Bylaws concerning the election of the president and vice president
Article 1. A person who wants to run for the office of president shall receive recommendations from at least five councilors, and submit his/her candidacy to the board chairman during the period of public notice.
Article 2. The board chairman shall select up to three candidates for president from people who have consulted and submitted to the board of directors, and inform employees of these candidates without placing priority on them before the election.
Article 3. The president shall be elected at the general meeting of employees according to the following rules:
- 1) The board chairman will assign two councilors as election administrators responsible for election procedures.
- 2) Elections shall be conducted by single and secret ballot.
- 3) No absentee voting shall be allowed.
- 4) Ballots will be considered invalid if:
(1) An official ballot paper is not used
(2) The name of a non-candidate is written
(3) More names than a specified number of candidates are written
(4) Less names than a specified number of candidates are written
(5) The same name is written multiple times
(6) Names are illegible
(7) Honorific titles are added to names
- 5) The winner will be decided as follows:
(1) A candidate who has won the highest number of valid votes will be the election winner.
(2) If multiple candidates have obtained the largest number of valid votes, a runoff will be held between these candidates.
Article 4. The president will be elected two years before his/her term of office, until which he/she shall serve as the vice president.
Additional Clause: These bylaws will become effective from the date of the establishment of the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine. This revision will take effect on May 16, 2006.
