Procedures for the selection of the best paper prize
Section 1. Targets for awards
- 1. Article 2 of the internal regulations for selection specifies the targets for the awards.
- 2. Targets for the encouragement prize shall be young physicians (within 10 years from the acquisition of medical licenses) and co-medicals (nurses, clinical engineers, and physical therapists).
Section 2. Methods of selection
- 1. The selection system shall be one in which selection committee members will be able to give a fair and scientific evaluation of all papers submitted.
- (1) It shall be ensured that names of author affiliations for all papers submitted will not be known until the completion of selection.
- (2) The order of recommendation shall be determined by evaluation points marked on evaluation sheets.
- 2. Papers on a shortlist will be decided at the selection committee.
- 3. The results of selection will be given to all applicants.
- 4. Application documents will not be returned.
Section 3. Acceptance of papers
- 1. The committee will accept papers from the public up until November 20 of each year.
- 2. Each member of the best paper award selection committee may recommend up to two papers.
- 3. The editorial board of the journal may recommend up to three papers.
Section 4. Submission of papers
- 1. A person may recommend only one paper (add a letter of recommendation).
- 2. Reasons for recommendation should be stated.
- 3. Submission (with or without recommendation) procedures.
(1) Put the type of membership, name, affiliation, type of national certificate, and date of acquisition of the certificate on the application form.
(2) Describe the name, volume, and page of the journal.
(3) Add presentation details at academic conferences (name of academic conference, date of conference, title, names of all presenters).
(4) Add two separate prints (or copies) of the paper.
(5) Application documents shall be sent to the best paper selection committee, the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
Additional Clause: These procedures will take effect on May 18, 2001.
This revision will take effect on December 22, 2005.
